WASTE
CLASSIFICATION
TYPE A: rash,
a mixture of highly combustible waste such as paper,
cardboard, wood boxes, and contains up to combustible floor
sweepings, from commercial and industrial activities. The
mixture contain up to 10% by weight of plastic bags, coated
paper, laminated paper, treated corrugated cardboard, oily
rags and plastic or rubber scraps. This type of waste contains
20% moisture, 5% incombustible solids and has a heating value
of 4700 Kcal. Per Kg. As fired.
TYPE B:
Rubbish, a mixture of combustible waste such as paper,
cardboard cartons, wood scrap, foliage and combustible floor
sweeping, from domestic, commercial and industrial activities.
The mixture contains up to 20% by weight of restaurant or
cafeteria waste, but contains little or no treated papers,
plastic or rubber wastes. This type of waste contains 25%
moisture, 10% incombustible solid and has a heating value of
3600 Kcal. Per. Kg. As fired.
TYPE C:
Refuse, consisting of an approximately even mixture of rubbish
garbage by weight, this type of waste is common to apartment
and residential occupancy, consisting of up to 70% moisture,
7% incombustible solids, and has a heating value of 2350 Kcal.

TYPE D:
Garbage, consisting of animal and vegetable waste from
restaurant, cafeterias, hotels, hospitals, markets and like
installations. This type of waste contains up to 75% moisture,
up to 5% incombustible solids, and has a heating value of 14oo
Kcal. Per. Kg. As fired.
TYPE E:
Human and animal remains, consisting of carcasses, organs and
solid organic wastes from hospitals, and similar sources,
consisting of up to 85% incombustible solids, and having a
heating value of 550 Kcal. Per Kg. As fired.
TYPE F:
Industry waste variable mixture of organic, inorganic and
inert nature including residues, sludges slurry, toxic and
hazardous waste.

TYPES OF WASTE
1. Animal waste:
Animal issues, organs, body part, carcasses, bleeding parts,
fluid and blood.
2. Experimental
animal used in research, waste generated by veterinary
hospitals collages, discharge from hospital/animal houses.
3. discarded
medicines and cytological drugs (Waste comprising of out
dated, contaminated and discarded medicines)
4. Solid waste:
items contaminated with blood , and body fluids including
cotton, dressings, solid plasters casts, bleeding, other
material contaminated with blood.

report of SERVICES HEALTH ACADEMY Islamabad, the waste output
of the hospitals is calculated @ 2 Kg/Bed (Indoor admission)
& @ 0.5 Kg/Patient (Outdoor patients).
